Stashvember: No, it is not too early for Christmas sewing

I know, I know... You are all thinking why is she already sewing Christmas decoration in November?" Well, I only have one thing to say: Fat quarters.

Ik weet het, ik weet het... Jullie denken nu allemaal waarom is ze nu al kerstdecoratie aan het maken in november? Wel, ik heb hier maar 1 ding op te zeggen: stofresten.

I have made Christmas stockings as a gift and I had a lot of leftovers. While I was looking on Pinterest for some ideas, I saw several sewed Christmas decoration. Then it was quickly decided what I would sew with the fat quarters.

Ik heb kerstsokken gemaakt als een cadeau en ik had daardoor heel veel stofresten. Terwijl ik op Pinterest aan het rondkijken was voor ideeën, zag ik verschillende foto's verschijnen met zelfgemaakte kerstdecoratie. Toen was de beslissing snel gemaakt om dit zelf te doen met mijn stofresten.

The Christmas decoration consists of gloves, stars, hearts and a Christmas tree. I searched for coloring pages with this items on it to have the pattern.

De kerstdecoratie bestaat uit een handschoen, een ster, een hart en een kerstboom. Ik zocht deze figuren in kleurboeken om een patroon te hebben. 

 The sewing was really easy. I just have put the wrong sides on to each other and started sewing. Then I filled up the figures with some other fabric leftovers. At the end I sewed the figure for a second time with a special stitch so it would have the feel of old Christmas decoration.

Het naaien was echt eenvoudig. Ik heb gewoon de foute kanten op elkaar gelegd. Dan vulde ik de figuren met stofresten. Uiteindelijk ging ik nog eens over de decoratie met een zigzag steek omdat ik graag wou dat het op ouderwetse kerstdecoratie leek.

Stashvember: Bambiblauw sweater marathon

Normally I don't like buying something online, because I prefer to feel the fabric. But when Bambiblauw presented their new collection Happy Nature 2, I could not resist of buying some. 

Ik hou niet zo van online shoppen omdat ik graag de stof voel. Maar toen Bambiblauw haar nieuwe collectie Happy Nature 2 voorstelde moest ik gewoon enkele panelen bestellen.

By the way, the online shopping went smoothly. And I already did this a second, third... time.  A bit too much to be honest, so stashvember came just in time.

Het online winkelen ging trouwens erg vlot. En ik heb het al eens een tweede, derde... keer gedaan. Al een beetje te veel om eerlijk te zijn. Stashvember kwam dus juist op tijd.

To come back on the title of my newest post: I am starting a sweater marathon with the Happy Nature fabric. As the fabric is so beautiful, I kept it for the sewing evenings on Monday where I can have some assistance in case of issues. 

Maar om terug te komen op de titel van mijn nieuwste blog post: Ik start een sweater marathon met de Happy Nature stof. Omdat ik niets fout wou doen met deze prachtige stof, hou ik deze voor de naaiavonden waar ik assistentie heb in geval van problemen.

The leather sweater of La Maison Victor is off course my first pattern. When you look here , you know why it is the first pattern to be used.

De leather sweater van La Maison Victor is natuurlijk mijn eerste patroon.  Als je hier  kijkt weet je waarom het mijn eerste patroon is dat ik gebruikt heb.

This fabric is rather thin, certainly when it is cold. So he will have to wear something underneath it.

Deze stof is vrij dun, zeker als het wat kouder is. Dus hij zal er iets onder moeten dragen.

Het volgend project in de sweater marathon is ook de Leather sweater, maar dan draagbaar aan beide kanten. Dus hou mijn blog de komende weken zeker in de gaten!

Where is my zipper?

When I started sewing, there were (and still are) things that I didn't dare to do. And now I have discovered that one of them isn't that difficult.

Toen ik begon met naaien, waren (en zijn) er dingen waar ik niet aan durfde te beginnen. En nu ontdekte ik dat één er van helemaal niet zo erg is.

I am talking about the invisible zipper. I heard a lot of horror stories about it, so I always postponed projects with a zipper and certainly when they had to be invisible.

Ik heb het hier over de blinde rits. Ik hoorde er zoveel horrorverhalen over, dat ik projectjes met een rits en zeker met een blinde rits uitstelde.

Until a certain day on which I followed a workshop at Lizzy L'oiseau to create a skirt WITH an invisible zipper. It was such a relief to see that this horror story wasn't real and that I can do an invisible zipper, even without an invisible zipper foot.

Tot op de dag dat ik een workshop volgde bij Lizzy L'oiseau om een rok te naaien MET een blinde rits. Het was zo'n opluchting dat het blinde rits horror verhaal niet waar was. Het lukte zelfs zonder het speciaal voetje voor een blinde rits.

Happy Halloween sewing

Are you ready for some scary sewing? No? Me neither, so that's why I sewed this little monster pillow covers.
Ben je klaar voor wat eng naaiwerk? Nee? Ik ook niet. Daarom heb ik  dit monster kussensloop gemaakt.

Hide yourself behind a pillow when the spooky part starts...Our little monster will protect you!
Verstop je daarom achter dit kussen wanneer het spook gedeelte start... Ons klein monster zal je beschermen!

It's perhaps not the most advanced sewing, but I liked doing this. With one item you create another atmosphere in your house. What did you sew for Halloween?
Het is misschien niet het moeilijkste naaien, maar ik vond het leuk. Met één item zorg je voor een andere sfeer in huis. Wat heb jij gemaakt voor Halloween?

Winter time with bear and dog

Finally, me time! And what have we done? Well, it certainly was a moment for first times. 
Eindelijk wat tijd voor mezelf! En wat hebben we gedaan? Wel, het was vast en zeker een moment voor eerste keren.

I participated for the first time in a sewing workshop at Lizzy l'oiseau. It was a fun afternoon in her shop. 
Ik nam voor de eerste keer deel aan een workshop bij Lizzy L'oiseau. Het was een gezellige namiddag in haar winkel.

It was also the first time that I sewed the Faux fur Hood of Lemon Squeezy Home. I sewed a dog and a bear, but there are so many possibilities. The pattern is really easy as I even didn't needed the tutorial.  
Het was ook de eerste keer dat ik een Faux fur Hood naaide van Lemon Squeezy Home. Ik maakte de hond en de beer, maar er zijn zoveel andere mogelijkheden. Het patroon is echt eenvoudig en ik moest zelfs niet naar de uitleg kijken. 

If you want to sew this yourself, I have one advice for you. Measure the head of your children and take one size bigger and not the one that they would need at that moment. The Faux Fur Hood falls over-sized as you can see on their site. My hat was not too small, but I think it would be better when I made it one size larger with the doggy hat.

Ik heb één advies voor jou als je zelf deze muts wil maken. Meet het hoofd van jouw kind en neem één maat groter en niet de maat die ze op die moment hebben. De Faux Fur Hood valt oversized zoals je op hun site kan zien. Mijn muts was niet te klein, maar één maat groter had beter geweest voor de hondenmuts.

Oh yeah, and last but not least. It was the first the time that I used fur. OMG! I am not sure if I would use it again. There was fur everywhere, but really EVERYWHERE!!! Even more then on the below picture. It tickled so much.

Ah ja, en als laatste. Het was de eerste keer dat ik bont gebruikte. Amai! Ik twijfel of ik dat ooit nog ga doen. Er was overal bont, maar echt OVERAL!!! Veel meer dan hier op de foto. Het kriebelde heel erg. 

These Faux Fur Hoods were so cute, so I didn't mind the mess. Long live the vacuum cleaner!

Deze Faux Fur mutsen zijn zo schattig, dat ik de rommel voor éénmaal niet erg vond. Lang leve de stofzuiger!

Sometimes we need simple sewing

Sometimes you are so busy, that you don't have time to do some complicated sewing. You just want something straightforward.

Soms is het zo druk, dat je geen tijd hebt om iets ingewikkeld te naaien. Dan wil je gewoon iets naaien waarbij je het verstand op nul kan zetten.

And what is something that each mother can use with toddlers? Yes indeed, a little bib.
En wat kan elke moeder gebruiken met peuters in huis? Inderdaad, zeverslabs.

So don't expect too much, but do expect these practical bibs.
Verwacht dus geen hoogstand naaiwerk deze keer, maar enkel deze praktische slabs.

The fabric with the yellow bus is the first fabric I ever bought! I bought 2 meter, because if I make errors... I still have fabric left. Do I need to mention that I still have a lot of these fabric?

De stof met de gele bus is het eerste stofje dat ik ooit kocht! Ik kocht 2 meter zodat ik zeker genoeg had als ik iets fout deed. Ik heb er nog steeds veel van liggen...

But now our little guy can drool and spill as much as he wants to (or as mummy wants).Maar nu kan onze kleine kapoen kwijlen en morsen zo veel als hij wil (of als mama wilt).

Sewing for mini and midi girls

Everywhere I look there seems to be a newborn. I really don't mind that, certainly when the newborn is a girl. This time I sewed something for a little lady and her sister.
Overal waar ik kijk lijk ik wel een baby te zien. Ik zit daar echt niets mee in, zeker als dat kleine ding een meisje is. Deze keer naaide ik iets voor een kleine meid en haar zusje.

I took my favorite pattern for little baby girls: the crossover dress. I found 2 beautiful cotton fabrics at Lizzy l'oiseau. Aren't the birds and butterflies adorable? 
Ik nam mijn favoriete patroon voor kleine meisjes: het schortjurkje. Ik vond 2 mooie katoenen stofjes bij Lizzy l'oiseau. Zijn die vogels en vlinders niet ongelooflijk schattig?

I had enough fabric left to create a skirt for the big sister. I didn't use a pattern, but just started with a square of the yellow fabric.
Ik had genoeg stof om een rokje te maken voor grote zus. Ik gebruikte geen patroon, maar startte van een vierkant in de gele stof.

The birds and butterflies fabric was added to the side. Now she will move much easier. 
Ik voegde de stof met vogels en vlinders toe aan de zijkant.  Nu zal ze meer bewegingsvrijheid hebben.

Hopefully our mini and midi likes the sewing I did for them! I know I liked sewing for them.
Hopelijk vinden mini en midi mijn naaisels voor hun leuk. Ik vond het in elk geval leuk om voor hun te naaien.

And for now... let's see when the following baby will come for some sewing.
En voor nu... laten we eens kijken wanneer de volgende baby daar is voor wat naaiwerk.
